Cooking Class
Sharon New March 19th, 2010
“The Sustainable foods cooking class was wonderful. I never knew that making my own raw milk butter could be so easy and delicious! The slide presentation opened new doors of knowledge to me and my family. There is a lot of useful information to help navigate the grocery stores and farmers markets for our future shopping needs. A truly worthy class. Thanks so much Sharon.” D.E.P., Baltimore

So what is sustainable food? “…a way of raising food that is healthy for consumers and animals, does not harm the environment, is humane for workers, respects animals, provides a fair wage to the farmer, and supports and enhances rural communities.” (Taken from www.sustainabletable.org.) Foods are meant to nourish and replenish. What we have now is the exact opposite.
In this class, we will learn how to find and make nutrient dense foods or foods that heal you. Among other subjects, we will review how and why fats are good for you and which foods can reduce inflammatory responses in your body. There is also a take-home folder with excellent resources provided. Please consider having a sustainable foods cooking class in the comfort of your own kitchen. Classes are $35 per person – except for the host – who is free and gets to keep the products we make. Minimum 5 required for class for closer distances; may need to require 8 minimum for longer distances.
Schedule a Sustainable Foods Cooking Class in your own kitchen/place of business or other venue!
